Foudational Documents - Article I

The purpose of this document is to establish a framework on the establishment of The Colony, its mission, foundational ideas, laws, membership requirements and productive commerce. This framework is not a ruling document but a formative one.

The Colony is an evolution into self regulated Stateless living.

The Colony is based upon the premise that just as the original colonists in the British Colonies of America had reached a level of morality that made their existence under a monarchy intolerable, that we, the new colonists have reached a level of morality that makes our existence under any State intolerable.

The New Colonists, as the members of The Colony shall henceforth be known, have no desire to overthrow, modify, change or interfere with the current or future dealings of any State. We are unconcerned with the State since we do not recognize our need for such an institution, accept its authority nor desire its assistance or interference with our affairs. We will continue to abide by the “laws” of the State under which we reside as long as we reside within its framework. But, we will make no effort or contribution that will benefit the State nor make any demands of the State other than to be left alone to pursue our happiness and production, until such time as we are ready to separate from the geographical boundaries of the State.

Since The Colony is a Stateless community, there is only one law in The Colony:

No man may initiate physical force, or a substitute of physical force, against another man for any reason.

We voluntarily respect certain traditions. We understand that these traditions are part of the foundational morality of The Colony and that deviation from these traditions would cause damage to our domestic tranquility. These traditions are based on the following knowledge:
·
We know that the highest value of man is his life
·
We know that as a man’s mind is his property, so are the products of his mind.
·
We know that the possession of private property is necessary for the existence of man and derive from his right to live and to the production of his mind
·
We know that a man is free to willingly trade the products of his mind with other men, to their mutual benefit and without interference
·
We know that rights are inherent to the existence of man as man and do not require sanction
·
We know that no man has a claim to another man’s life except in self defense, or property except in the pursuit of just compensation

We understand that not every man is ready to accept this knowledge. We do not wish to interfere with their delusions or beliefs. As we do not share their beliefs, we refuse to abide by them. We will not seek to interfere with their beliefs. But we will defend our rights, based on our knowledge of the nature of man and based on our traditions and moral values. Our moral values are best expressed by our oath to our existence as men:

“I swear on my life and my love of it, that I shall never live for the sake of another man or expect another man to live for the sake of mine”
